Green Tea

According to Ann Louise Gittleman, PH.D., C.N.S., green tea is a no-no because an increasing body of studies has shown that it is contaminated with aluminum fluoride from pesticides and fertilizers.  Fluoride cues your organs, including your liver and your brain, to stockpile aluminum, with sometimes disastrous results.  Fluoride is also a known thyroid suppressor.  Considering all the fluoride we are consuming in our water, toothpaste, soft drinks, and foods processed with fluoridated water, she asks, do we really want to take a chance on fluoridated green tea?

Recent samples of green tea were also found to contain the pesticides DDT and its cousin, the DDT-like Dursban.  Although DDT has been banned in the United States since 1972, it can still find its way back to this country from China or India in our tea bag.  Ms. Gittleman suggests we try a caffeine-free herbal blend made from lemon, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, or cranberry.  Teas like Celestial Seasoning's Bengal Spice, Cranberry Cove, and Lemon Life as suggestions.

An organic cupcake, of course, with a cup of herbal tea.  Delicious, right Pug?
