Fat-Free Foods

According to Linda Page, foods that are fat-free are commonly loaded with sugar.  Sugar, corn syrup and fructose are usually three of the first five ingredients on any box label of fat free sweet snacks.  Too much sugar can wreak havoc on blood sugar levels, especially for diabetics or hypoglycemics.

Over-consumption of sugary treats also triggers the production of insulin--your body's signal to make fat.

Fat-free but loaded with sugar is a poor choice for a dieter and for general health.  Fat-free snacks are also loaded with salt in an effort to make up for taste loss.  Highly salted foods contribute to high blood pressure and water retention.

Fat-free snacks are often laced with fillers, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors with known toxicity.

So, are we all convinced that fat-free snacks are not nice?  Now it will be much easier to make better choices.  Happy  Healthy New Year to us all!   Love to hear from Health and Beauty readers.  What's up for your new year?
