Let's break the fast!

Let's begin with a light breakfast which is fruit based: Half a cantaloupe or half a grapefruit. Or wait till mid morning and have 12 ounces of freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice. Waiting for a noon lunch is helpful if dinner the night before was heavy or taken late.

If we are consuming a medium breakfast, we can add grain. Enjoy fruit or fruit juice first, then add a grain and milk. For example, dry cereal with dairy, soy-based milk, rice, or almond milk. Or, cottage cheese with whole grain toast. Try nut butter or yogurt with cooked buckwheat cereal.

For a heavy breakfast, add more protein. For instance, poached eggs with a whole-wheat pita, or scrambled tofu with whole-wheat toast, or oatmeal cooked with your choice of milk and topped with nut butter.

You may also add lightly steamed leafy green vegetables with your meals. Green leafies are Swiss chard, chicory, collard green, arugula, dandelion greens, kale, mustard green, and spinach.

These veggies are bursting with Vitamin C. They're rich in beta-carotene which converts to Vitamin A. They have other carotenoids-healthful plant pigments that you can't see in the green veggies because the chlorophyll gives everything a green color.

Now this is really interesting. One of these carotenoids is the antioxidant lutein. A single serving has more than 100 different phytochemicals. The phytochemcial whose name literally means "leaf" is folate. Folate, a B vitamin, is needed by the body to make DNA and RNA. It keeps DNA healthy, resisting changes that might lead to cancer. There is some evidence that, without folate, damage to DNA may result, which can lead to cancer. This information is published in the book "The Answer to Cancer" by Hari Sharma and Rama K.Mishra.

I will refer to this book again during our sessions. Until next blog. To your health!!

  2. Hi Keppi, do you know anything about dermatitis? I have these horrible red welts on my face and neck from time to time and it has taken TWO MONTHS for the last bout to leave. I use aloe vera gel on the welts to soothe but I want to know how to AVOID these..
    thanks:)
