Iron rich food for Deana
Good nutrition is a good remedy. Eating patterns show that vegetarians consume more iron than meat eaters. Eat vegetables and herbal iron sources are best for absorbability.
Eat some iron-rich foods every day: figs, seafood, molasses, beets, brown rice, spinach and dark greens, whole grains, eggs, grapes, raisins, yams, almonds and beans.
Eat manganese and vitamin C foods for iron uptake: whole grains, greens, legumes, nuts, pineapples and eggs, citrus fruits, cruciferous vegetables, tomatoes and green pepper.
Eat cultured foods for friendly flora and vit. B-12; yogurt, kefir, miso, soyfoods.
Avoid iron-depleting foods: sodas, caffeine, chocolate, red meat, cow's milk.
Mix brewer's yeast, molasses, wheat germ, sesame seeds, dry snipped sea greens; sprinkle 2 TBS daily over food.
Herbal sources include alfalfa, bilberrry, burdock, catnip, yellow dock root, watercress, sarsaparilla and nettles.
